Schools, Colleges, and Universities
Chalk Line has worked in schools, colleges, and universities for a decade.
We offer bespoke workshops and tailor made talent development programmes in response to curriculum and in line with our productions. This also includes delivering the Arts Award.
In 2022 we worked in collaboration with artsdepot to provide a 10 week devising training programme at Saracens High School, whilst also delivering their Bronze Arts Award. Across the devising course, we worked in collaboration with the students to create a piece of a theatre which was then performed at artsdepot's studio space.
Each workshop is tailored to the needs of the participants and designed to the interest of the participants.
The core of our workshop offer focuses on devising methods, physical theatre, political playwriting, and ensemble theatre making. We host workshops for all group sizes.
We have worked in partnership with Theatre Peckham to deliver work in Charter Schools in South London, artsdepot to engage schools in North London, schools across Luton in partnership with companies such as The Hat Factory, Next Generation Youth Theatre and Revoluton and provided lectures at institutions such as Kings College London and Birkbeck University.
We aim to also break down access barriers to our work by providing free or discounted tickets to our work. Organisations we have partnered with include:

Our productions also have their own education pack, which we send to schools when touring across the UK and we also work in partnership with Next Generation Youth Theatre to create education specific shows which we tour throughout schools in Luton.

Out There
Made in collaboration with Next Generation Youth Theatre and Beds Veru, Out There was a fast paced, hard hitting piece of theatre that uncovered the damaging impact of county lines in Luton.
Touring to Lea Manor High School, Chiltern Academy, Queen Elizabeth, Challney Girls, Cardinal Newman, Denbigh High School, Putteridge High School, Stopsley High School and Stockwood Park Academy. The performances were watched by 2000 students within 5 days.
Based on real life events, we follow the character of Hannah as she is sucked further into this underground world.
Will her best friend Kyanna be able to see the signs and step in before it’s too late?

BACK ON TRACK
Our next project with Next Generation Youth Theatre will be, BACK ON TRACK.
This is a two-year creative violence prevention project for young people aged 10-16 across Luton.
At its heart, this project is about listening to young people, valuing their experiences, amplifying their voices, and investing in their potential.
Building on the foundations of 'Out There', this uses creativity as a force for prevention, empowerment, connection, and hope.
The project is funded by Bedfordshire and Luton Community Foundation as part of The Luton Rising Youth Fund.
